“Vande Mataram Cyclothon
2026” has been launched by the Central Industrial Security Force.
¨
The cyclothon has beeen
flagged off on 10 February 2026.
¨
It is a nationwide
campaign to create public awareness about coastal security.
¨
It marks 27 years of
service by the CISF. It also commemorates 150 years of the song “Vande
Mataram.”
¨
Under the campaign, a
group of 65 CISF cyclists is taking part in the event.
¨
The cyclists are
travelling through nine coastal states and four Union Territories.
¨
The aim of cyclothon is
to sensitise coastal communities about certain threats and to strenghthen
coordination between citizens and security agencies.
¨ The threats include drug trafficking, arms smuggling and explosives movement.
¨ In Maharashtra, the cyclothon will begin from the Tarapur CISF unit. The Maharashtra leg will end in Ratnagiri on the 14th of the month. After that, the team will move onward to Goa.
