Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Women’s Forum 2026 was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic

¨     Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Women’s Forum 2026 was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, on 26 June 2026.

¨     The forum brought together SCO member countries to discuss women’s leadership, gender equality, and women’s participation in social and economic life.

¨     The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is a Eurasian intergovernmental organisation established in 2001.

¨     Its member states are China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

¨     Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi addressed the forum through a video message.

¨     India highlighted its Women-Led Development approach, focusing on women’s safety, nutrition, and economic participation.

¨     India stated that over 100 million women are connected through more than 9 million Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the country.

¨     Under the Lakhpati Didi initiative, more than 30 million women have achieved an annual household income of at least ₹1 lakh.

¨     Mission Shakti is the Government of India’s umbrella scheme for women’s safety, security, and empowerment.

¨     Mission Poshan 2.0 is an integrated nutrition programme for women, adolescent girls, and children.

¨     Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are community-based collectives that provide savings, credit, livelihood support, and social empowerment to women.
