¨     U.S. House of Representatives passed a war powers resolution on 3 June 2026.

¨   The resolution directs President Trump to end hostilities with Iran unless Congress formally declares war or authorizes military force.

¨     The vote result was 215–208.

¨     Four Republican members voted along with Democrats in support of the resolution.

¨     The resolution was introduced in April 2026 by Gregory Meeks of New York.

¨     It aims to reaffirm Congressional authority over war powers.

¨   The measure requires removal of U.S. forces from active hostilities with Iran without congressional approval.

¨     Under the U.S. Constitution, Article I gives Congress the power to declare war.
