Union Cabinet has approved two national highway widening projects in Telangana

¨     Union Cabinet has approved two national highway widening projects in Telangana.

¨     The projects cover a total length of 190.76 km with a combined capital cost of ₹7,597.16 crore.

¨     The approved works include widening of the Armur–Jagityal–Mancherial section of NH-63 and the Jagityal–Karimnagar section of NH-563.

¨     Both corridors will be developed to four-lane standards.

¨     The NH-63 Armur–Jagityal–Mancherial stretch will be implemented under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).

¨     The NH-563 Jagityal–Karimnagar stretch will be developed under the Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) model.

¨     The projects are designed for a speed limit of 100 km/h.

¨     They will include bypasses in urban areas and a tolling system to improve traffic flow.

¨     The project covers the districts of Nizamabad, Jagityal, Mancherial, and Karimnagar.

¨     NH-63 and NH-563 are part of Telangana’s national highway network.

¨     The Hybrid Annuity Model is a public–private partnership (PPP) model used in highway development.

¨  The Build-Operate-Transfer model is a concession-based framework used for infrastructure projects such as toll roads.

¨     National highways are declared under the National Highways Act, 1956.

¨     Open tolling is a system used for toll collection on selected stretches of highways in India.
