PM Modi’s Visit To Malaysia Sees India, Malaysia Ink Key Pacts on Trade and Energy

¨     India and Malaysia have taken a major step towards further deepening bilateral relations. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kuala Lumpur, the two countries signed 11 important agreements related to trade, technology, payment systems, and security.

¨     A major highlight of this visit was the emphasis on promoting trade settlements through the local currency in the Indian rupee and the Malaysian ringgit. In a time of global economic uncertainty, this visit signals a new impetus to India-Malaysia relations and a strengthening of the strategic partnership.

¨ During talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur, an agreement was reached to further strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, defense, health, tourism, and technology. The two sides set a target to take bilateral trade beyond $18.6 billion, marking the beginning of a new phase of the India-Malaysia partnership.
