N. Rangasamy was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Puducherry for the fifth time

¨     N. Rangasamy was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Puducherry for the fifth time on 13 May 2026.

¨     The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan.

¨     The swearing-in ceremony was held at Lok Nivas in Puducherry.

¨     Rangasamy is leading a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the Union Territory.

¨     This marks the second consecutive term of the NDA government in Puducherry.

¨     Puducherry is a Union Territory with a legislative assembly.

¨     The Council of Ministers in Puducherry is headed by the Chief Minister.

¨     The Union Territory follows the parliamentary system of government under the Government of Union Territories Act, 1963.

¨     The Chief Minister is appointed by the Lieutenant Governor.

¨     The Central government notification appointing Rangasamy as Chief Minister and naming ministers was read out before the ceremony.

¨     Malladi Krishna Rao, representative from Yanam, took the oath in Telugu.

¨     BJP National President Nitin Nabin and senior BJP leader B. L. Santhosh attended the ceremony on 13 May 2026.
