India’s first-ever National Rural Development Conference is scheduled to be held on 28–29 June 2026 in New Delhi

¨     India’s first-ever National Rural Development Conference is scheduled to be held on 28–29 June 2026 in New Delhi.

¨     The two-day conference will be chaired by Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

¨     The conference will be organised under the theme “Viksit Gram, Viksit Bharat” (Developed Villages, Developed India).

¨     Rural development in India encompasses rural infrastructure, livelihoods, agriculture, basic services, and local governance.

¨     The Ministry of Rural Development implements key flagship programmes such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G), and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).

¨     The conference will bring together Rural Development Ministers, senior officials, and experts from all States and Union Territories.

¨   It will serve as a national platform for discussions on policy implementation, administrative coordination, and best practices in rural development.

¨     The conclave aims to strengthen collaboration between the Union and State Governments and accelerate progress towards the vision of “Viksit Gram, Viksit Bharat.”
