In 1907, he was deported without trial to Mandalay (now Myanmar) for his

ordered a brutal lathi charge on the protesters. Lala Lajpat Rai was severely
injured. He famously declared, "Every blow on my body will prove to be a

he passed away on November 17, 1928.
