India, Trinidad and Tobago sign eight
agreements during S Jaishankar’s visit

S. Jaishankar visited
Trinidad and Tobago on a two-day visit on 8–9 May 2026.
¨
During the visit, India
and Trinidad and Tobago signed eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).
¨
The agreements covered
tourism, healthcare, infrastructure, Ayurveda, education, and pest control.
¨
India and Trinidad and
Tobago established diplomatic relations in 1962.
¨
Trinidad and Tobago is an
island republic located in the southern Caribbean region.
¨
It is a member of the
Caribbean Community.
¨
One agreement focused on
powering the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs building with solar
energy.
¨
The two countries also
agreed to upgrade infrastructure on Nelson Island.
¨
Both sides emphasized
strengthening cooperation in tourism and healthcare sectors.
¨ An Indian Chair on Ayurveda will be established at the University of the West Indies.
¨ Ayurveda is a traditional Indian system of medicine recognized by the Ministry of AYUSH.
