India and South Korea held the 12th round of talks in New Delhi to upgrade the India-Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement

¨     India and South Korea held the 12th round of negotiations to upgrade the India–Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IK CEPA) in New Delhi from 25–27 May 2026.

¨     The negotiations followed the Joint Declaration signed on 20 April 2026 during the South Korean President’s visit to India.

¨     IK CEPA is a bilateral trade agreement between India and South Korea.

¨     The agreement came into force in 2010 and provides the legal framework for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

¨     A Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) generally covers trade in goods, trade in services, investment, and trade-related rules.

¨     The Indian side of the negotiations was co-chaired by Kapil Chaudhary.

¨     The South Korean side was co-chaired by Park Geun-oh.

¨  Key discussion areas included trade in goods, trade in services, rules of origin and procedures, investment, and sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) standards.

¨  The negotiations aimed to strengthen economic ties and expand trade and investment opportunities between India and South Korea.
