Gary Kirsten has been appointed as head coach of Sri Lanka men's national cricket team

¨     Gary Kirsten has been appointed as head coach of Sri Lanka men's national cricket team.

¨     His tenure will begin on 15 April. The coaching contract will last for two years. His term will end on 14 April 2028.

¨     Gary Kirsten earlier played international cricket. He represented the South Africa national cricket team.

¨     His playing career lasted from 1993 to 2004. He scored a total of 14,087 international runs.

¨   He scored 21 centuries in Test cricket. He also made 13 centuries in One Day Internationals.

¨     Kirsten became head coach of the India men's national cricket team in 2008. He served in that role until 2011.

¨     During his tenure, India won the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2011.
