former Lok Sabha Secretary-General and noted constitutional expert, passed away
on 4 June 2026 at the age of 97.

He died at his residence
in Sainik Farm, New Delhi, due to cardio-pulmonary arrest following age-related
ailments.

Dr. Kashyap was born on
10 May 1929 in Chadpur.
¨
As a teenager, he
actively participated in India’s Independence Movement.
¨
He served as
Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha from 1983 to 1990.
¨ Dr. Kashyap was associated with the Parliament of India for more than 37 years.
¨ He was widely regarded as one of India’s leading experts on the Constitution and parliamentary affairs.
