An MoU signed to build
India’s First Integrated Life-Cycle Support Model for persons with hearing
impairment.

An MoU has been signed by
the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities with civil society
organisations and technology leaders in New Delhi.
¨
The partnership has been
established to develop India’s first integrated life-cycle support model for
persons with hearing impairment.
¨
Through this
collaboration, comprehensive support systems will be created to assist
individuals with hearing impairment from early childhood intervention to
education, skilling, employment and social inclusion.
¨
The MoU has been signed
with organisations including Gopala Krishnan Foundation for the Deaf, Blee Tech
Innovations Private Limited, Training and Educational Centre for Hearing
Impaired, and the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre.
¨
The initiative has been
designed to bring together expertise from civil society institutions and
technology partners to strengthen accessibility and empowerment mechanisms.
¨
According to the Ministry
of Social Justice and Empowerment, the collaboration aims to create systemic
change that expands opportunities and improves quality of life for persons with
hearing impairment.
¨
Efforts will also be
directed towards strengthening dignity, independence and social participation
of individuals with hearing disabilities across the country.
¨
The partnership will
focus on awareness generation regarding hearing impairment and the need for
inclusive support systems in society.
¨ Special emphasis will be placed on expanding accessibility solutions and promoting the development and adoption of assistive technologies.
¨ The initiative will also prioritise early identification of hearing impairment and improved educational support to ensure better learning outcomes for affected individuals.
